Medieval Story Teller
Mistress Margareta will delight both young and old with her True and Noble Tales of Chivalry and Romance. Join her at the Kids Kingdom to go on a journey into the world of knights in shining armour; wise and foolish kings; magicians and fairies; beautiful maidens and cold-hearted queens and meet the odd ragged peasant or two along the way. Different stories will be told at each performance during the day and all will be suitable for family audiences.
Maureen James specialises in historical stories from the British Isles particularly those that can evoke a place and time. She is a qualified teacher with 15 years experience in historical interpretation and has travelled around the country providing costumed storytelling sessions as well as talks, lectures, and guided walks. She also writes regularly for publication on history and folklore.
Much of her storytelling work is for museums and heritage sites where she tells in the costume of the period and has a repertoire that spreads from the Celts & Romans through the Dark Age, Medieval, Tudor, Civil War, and Victorian periods up to World War Two, though her favourite period is Medieval.
At Herstmonceux Castle Medieval Festival, as Mistress Margareta she will be telling a selection of Medieval stories to delight and engage both adults and children. Join her at the Kids Kingdom to go on a journey back to the days of romance and chivalry with knights in shining armour; wise and foolish kings; magicians and fairies; beautiful maidens and cold-hearted queens and meet the odd peasant or two on the way.
Different stories will be told at each performance during the day and all will be suitable for family audiences. See the performance times in this section for details.
